International Missions

The International Missions Program consists of four major programs which have been endorsed by the Missions Council.
For more information regarding any of our international missions programs, contact International Missions Team Leader, John Frank.

Canada Partnership with the Cree Nation

Located near Lake Mistissini, Quebec, Canada, the Cree people are the largest Native American group in North America, numbering a little over 200,000. We recently spearheaded our missions efforts with almost 70 youth and chaperones going to Lake Mistissini for initial work. Further trips will be organized for adults and youth, who would like to travel in small numbers to participate in work parties or other ministry-related events. WFBC is planning a trip in the summer of 2008 to help build a church. For more information about Lake Mistissini, visit www.mistissini.ca

Uganda Partnership

Through our Uganda partnership, WFBC seeks to encourage and empower a generation of orphans by fostering personal relationships between Ugandan and American children, as well as nurturing adults in both countries. WFBC works with Pastor Michael Okwakol of Agape Baptist Church in Ntinda and Kampala to educate spiritual leaders through a ministry center, and outreach to a local children's village that houses more than 80 orphans. We also work with Faith Kunhiria in Kaihura in the Kyenjojo District to operate an orphanage housing 28 orphans, as well as outreach to more than 1400 villagers through a vocational school and health services. Additionally, we support Embrace Uganda, an organization working in Uganda, by Ugandans, for Uganda. More information can be found on their website, www.embraceuganda.org. Keep updated on this trip by visiting the blog at http://embraceuganda.wordpress.com/ .

Through the month of May, WFBC will be collecting items for our partners in Uganda. Drop boxes for the items are located by the missions boards in the upstairs hallway, fellowship hall, and the church office.

If you would like to make a monetary donation you can support projects such as: finishing of a vocational school, library resources, orphan outreach, and medical clinics. Make your check payable to WFBC and drop it in the offering plate clearly marked Uganda. Monetary donations can be made at any time.

Nicaragua Partnership

The International Missions Team is partnering with Villa Familiar Nicaragua (VFN), an evangelical Christian ministry dedicated to helping abandoned, abused, or orphaned children. They operate a facility in Chillamateo, about 20 miles from the capital city of Managua, on a farm of over 300 acres. Children live on the farm in houses with one set of foster parents and 8 children, and attend private Christian school. VFN provides additional educational, recreational, spiritual, and health resources that allow them to focusing on establishing and growing their relationship with Christ.
