Hospitality Ministry
Our Hospitality Ministry came from the dream of a youth from WFBC who saw it in action during a missions trip to New York City in 2005. Our Hospitality Ministry volunteers meet every Saturday morning at the Alston-Massenburg center to build community relations and spread goodwill by serving area residents.
Slam Jam
Slam Jam is annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament designed to promote activities for at-risk children and youth, mobilize the community for a goodwill event, and contribute to racial harmony. Last year's event also included mimes, stepping, music from the St. Augustine Step & Drama Team, artist Mark Pergerson. Slam Jam 2007 also raised awareness for the need for the revitilization of the park and equipment at the Alston-Massenburg Center for the youth of that community.
Mission Quake
WFBC is a partcipating member of an annual event called Mission Quake. Mission Quake is open to any church that professes Christ, and the community is encourage to join in the participation of time-honored programs, which work toward alleviating human suffering and eradicating hunger and poverty. The 2007 Mission Quake program included the Stop Hunger Now food drive, the Pint-Sized Paint Project, which organized volunteers to paint an entire house in 2 days, and a Crop Walk to raise additional money for hunger relief, 25% of which stays in the Wake Forest Area. Dates will be announced soon for the 2008 Mission Quake projects.
NC Partnerships - CBF/SBC
WFBC is continually seeking ways to contribute to the missions work of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. We value work being done by both groups and want to be involved whenever possible.
Sports Missions
WFBC has sports missions for professional and amateur sports that provide Chapels and related services for Hockey Ministries International, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Baseball Chapel. Through HMI, WFBC conducts Chapel programs for players from the Carolina Hurricanes. We also hold Chapel Services at "The Factory" in Wake Forest for players, fans, coaches, referees, and others.
WFBC is seeking other churches and individuals seeking to do chapel services or sports related ministry, and has partnered with CSO to assist in the training process for these partnerships. In 2008, WFBC will also break ground on a community life facility, the Stephenson Center, which will open the doors for launching a larger sports minsitry program in 2009. See our Sports Ministry page for more information.
Regional Opportunities
WFBC continually seeks like-minded churches and organizations to partner with us on various projects. Please contact us if you have or know of an organization that we can partner with.
