Sports Ministry

Sports Missions – WFBC is taking the lead in outreach missions in both professional and amateur sports. We have staff members who have exclusive partnerships with Hockey Ministries International, Baseball Chapel, and Joe Gibbs Racing to be able to provide Chapels and Chapel-related services in professional and local amateur sports venues.

Through the leadership and guidance of Hockey Ministries International, WFBC conducts Chapel programs for players from the NHL Carolina Hurricanes. Our church holds an exclusive partnership with “The Factory,” a local venue for baseball, hockey, soccer, and skateboarding. WFBC ministers host over 150 people in weekly Chapel services for players, fans, coaches, referees, and anyone else interested in participating.

Sports Missions Training— WFBC is currently seeking partnerships with other churches or individuals who would like to be trained on how to effectively begin and manage a Chapel in an amateur sports environment, or who would like to conduct an ongoing sports ministry. Chapel programs are weekly devotional times with teams, fans, coaches, etc. An ongoing sports ministry manages the playing of a sport in a venue for the purposes of using the sport as a platform for Gospel presentation.

Future Sports Ministry Opportunities— The Stephenson Center, a community life center, will be constructed in 2008, and will open the doors for a full-blown sports ministry program at our church.

For more information about any of these mission opportunities, please contact our Minister of Youth and Missions, Les Burleson or Minister of Outreach, Mark Tolley.
