Sunday School Schedule The Branches (Young Adults)

The Branches Class is a small class open to both couples and singles of all ages. We use Smyth & Helwys Formations literature as the basis for our study, but outside materials are also incorporated. A team approach is used in leadership with class participation encouraged but not mandatory. The class works hard to apply Biblical texts to daily life and current events and strives to follow Christ through study, support and service. Members of this class have been involved with various local ministries and mission opportunities. Class socials are held on a monthly basis.

Explorers Class

This is a class of diverse ages and is an instruction oriented study of the Bible with open discussion. This class is organized with care groups and weekly emails to stay connected. The class is currently studying 2 books of the Old Testament: 1 & 2 Samuel.

Barnabas (Median Age Adults)
Location: Room 206 next to Church Library
Teacher: Joe Kenney
A group of median-aged adults known for our active lifestyle and commitment of service to God through our church. Many of our couples have high-school and college-aged children and we even have some young grandparents. We encourage, love and support each other. We are friendly and enjoy fellowship among our members and guests. We respond quickly to the needs of our church and our class members. We take active roles in leadership and service positions within our church. Each Sunday Morning we gather to study God's word and to discern its application for our lives in a discussion-based format. Class lessons come from Smith and Helwys' Uniform Series (provided to each member), which follows the Lectionary providing coverage of the full Bible over a 7-year period. Typical class size is 15-25 people.
Faith Growers (Median Age Adults)
Location: Balcony - Piano Side
Teacher: Jim & Alice Leonard
This class offers adults of all ages the opportunity for small group interaction and discussion of books of the Bible. Using the Bible as our main text and various study aids we study each book in the context and setting in which it was written and provide discussion of applications to our lives today. Interaction is provided by sharing our various experiences and levels of Bible knowledge. The class is facilitated by Jim and Alice Leonard providing a couples view of living the Christian life.
Bible Book (All Ages)
Location: Prayer Room
Teacher: Doug Smith & Betty Barnham
A class of individuals in the age range of late thirties through mid seventies, who seek to know Jesus better through study of the Gospels and His teachings as it has meaning for us in our faith journey. The class is organized to begin with a period of fellowship as the class gathers, prayer concerns are offered, followed by the morning prayer. Curriculum is Smyth and Helwys material or developed from expressed interest by class members.
Agape (All Ages)
Location: Binkley Chapel Room #105
Teacher: Kathryn Sansbury & Chuck Rice
A small class in numbers yet large in our leaders’ wisdom, huge in our caring for one another, and grand in our belief in God. A very diverse group in age, late forties to early seventies. A family of individuals and couples celebrating each Sunday as an opportunity for Christian fellowship and Christ-like caring, sharing, bearing, and learning. Our class style of study is presentation of key ideas from Smyth and Helwys literature by our leaders, dialogue, and discussion. We examine the scriptures to understand the context in which they apply to our world and lives today.
Koinonia (All Ages)
Location: Fellowship Hall - Old Pantry

The class is mature, diverse in ages from the forties to the seventies, both couples and singles, that enjoys Bible study, fellowship, frequent socials, and serving the needs of people in the community. The method of teaching is the combination of lecture, class participation and discussion. Bible study materials are Smyth and Helwys “Formations”.
Seekers (Senior Adults)
Location: Room #201
Teacher: Al Meiburg
A class of senior adult men and women who enjoy humor and banter, keep watch over one another and offer practical assistance in times of need. The focus is on the study of scripture using the Smyth & Helwys “Formations Learner’s Study Guide”, Large Print edition. The style of the class is conversational, with the teacher introducing the topic, giving background material, and inviting discussion. Members of the class take communion to several local nursing homes monthly and at Christmas take gifts to the nursing home residents.
Friendship Class (Senior Ladies)
Location: Church Library
Teacher: Mary Hitchcock
A mature group of ladies, both married and single, who are very close knit and caring. The class is open to guests and new members. Smyth and Helwys Uniform Bible study series and occasional special studies are used.
Twenty-Five to Thirty-Five
Location: Room 201
Teacher: Les Burleson
The Twenty Five to Thirty Five class is an age specific group dedicated to Biblical study with an emphasis on relevance to the young adult culture. The class is currently doing a study of the biblical character, Jacob, by looking at the book of Genesis.
